Types of surgery

A coronal Lift is the most common procedure. Once under anesthesia, your surgeon will either make an incision at ear level or at your hairline, going across your forehead and ending at your other ear. Your skin will be lifted and any excess tissue and fat will be removed, and muscles will be realigned. Your eyebrows will be placed at a higher level and excess skin is trimmed away to ensure the revitalized look to your face.

An Endoscopic Lift is a minimally invasive procedure. This procedure includes small incisions within the hair and requires fiberoptic equipment to raise the soft tissue of the brows. Often times bruising is minimal and healing time is fast.

A Temporal Lift is an even farther dialed back minimally invasive procedure that can be performed in your cosmetic surgeon’s office under local anesthesia. This procedure requires slightly larger incisions than an endoscopic lift and is most commonly performed in combination with eyelid surgery. This is a great option if you desire a significant change in the upper eyelids as well as frown lines.

What to expect

A brow lift is typically done as an outpatient procedure with either general or local anesthesia. The duration of your surgery depends on the type of procedure, whether another procedure is being done at the same time and the expertise of your plastic surgeon. Your incision will be secured with either sutures or staples and will ordinarily be removed about a week after surgery.

You can expect to feel minimal pain and some tightness around your eyebrows, as well as bruising and swelling for the first 10 days after surgery.

Recovery time is definitely on a case-by-case basis. Most patients can return to their sedentary job in one week. If you’ve chosen to have more than one procedure done, it will be a longer recovery time by comparison. Patients can resume physical activity after 2-4 weeks, with the surgeon’s approval.
